Great advice, students take note. Higher-ed is an extremely slow moving ship, extremely slow. Sadly I don’t see this type of education coming from traditional channels in the foreseeable future. Fortunately there are plenty of new companies trying to rethink how people learn in the “internet enabled world.” Many of these companies will leapfrog traditional educational channels by going direct to consumers, connecting consumers with one another, and displacing the institutions altogether. Hopefully this will force traditional institutions to be more nimble and open to change.
It is ironic how innovation is so often hatched from academic institutions, but those same institutions are the last places to adopt real-world applications of those innovations.
